Generations of kids have had a great experience at Camp Sumner. Camp Sumner is a traditional day camp located in Pittsfield. Campers enjoy a wide range of fun experiences with old and new friends, including choices in nature, arts and crafts, swimming, sports fundamentals; team building, camping skills and time to just to have fun.
In 2010, Camp Sumner will have a FREE lunch program for all kids. BCC professors will engage children in Environmental Studies at the college. Children will learn about the environment, insects, animals and much more. BCC staff will also have introductory classes in Arts and Crafts which is all included in the cost of camp.
As part of the camp experience, Berkshire Bank sponsors one field trip per week for all campers.
Camp Sumner includes nature trails, soccer fields, basketball, creative games and activities. In the event of inclement weather, activities are moved inside to the Berkshire Community College Field House.
Before and after camp care is available. Trained and qualified staff supervises campers throughout the day.
New Co-Ed Junior Golf Camp
Two Junior Golf Camps, will be offered at BCC and conducted by Kay McMahon, Director of EduKaytion golf, along with her staff this year.
This camp is open to girls and boys with or without golfing experience. During the half-day morning camp, juniors will be divided by age and experience levels to learn how to play, swing techniques, short game shots, putting, and etiquette by using games, skills and drills. “Developing life skills by developing a game of a lifetime.” Clubs may be brought or can be provided. The camp is open to boys and girls who fall between the ages of 6 to 13.
If you love the game of basketball, this is the camp for you. The camp is taught by St. Joe Varsity Coach Paul Brindle and St. Joe Jr. Varisty Coach Randy Kinnas. Children 6th through 8th grade will learn advanced skills in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense and much more. This camp is from 9 a.m. until noon. "Be prepared to work hard."
(LIT) Leaders in Training Camp
LIT campers will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with experienced counselors. They enjoy the schedule of the traditional campers with nature, arts and crafts, sports, and more. These campers learn not only how to become a counselor, but LIT campers develop leadership and team building skills that they will value throughout their lifetime. This camp is open to kids who are entering 7th through 9th grade.
